Supermarket opening and closing hours for Easter Monday
Brits up and down the country are currently enjoying their long Easter bank holiday weekend. And after shops being closed on Easter Sunday, people might be wondering if they can make it to the shops on Easter Monday, April 21.
Most supermarket closed on Easter Sunday including Aldi, M&S, Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, and more. But people will be glad to know that most of them will reopen for Easter Monday.
Saying that, many supermarkets will have varying opening times on Easter Monday, often similar to their Sunday hours.
So whether you are looking to do your big weekly shop or just popping to get some last minute Easter treats, it is best to check when the supermarkets will be open on Monday to avoid turning up to closed shutters!
There are specific laws in place which limit certain retailers from being able to open on Easter Sunday. These rules are similar to the trading restrictions which shoppers will see on Christmas Day.
In England and Wales, large shops that are over 280 square metres must close by law on Easter Sunday, although exemptions apply to certain stores, including shops in airports and railway stations. Small shops which are up to 280 square metres can trade on any day and at any hour.
Here are the opening times for Aldi, Asda, Tesco, M&S, Lidl, Morrisons, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s over the long Easter weekend.
Aldi
Aldi stores will close on Easter Sunday, but will be open from 8am-8pm on Easter Monday.
Stores will open 8am-10pm on Good Friday and Saturday.

Stores will open 7am-10pm on Good Friday and Saturday. Stores in Scotland and standalone petrol forecourts will remain open as usual as will the vast majority of Asda Express stores.

Stores in Scotland will open 8am to 10pm on Easter Monday, and will open for their normal hours on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday. The vast majority of Tesco Express stores will remain open on Easter Sunday.
