Quick overview:
Manchester United will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League after the defeat to Newcastle United
Leny Yoro has dropped a team news hint ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Wolves.
The Reds will entertain the relegation-battlers at Old Trafford, on the back of a successful European night against Lyon. Ruben Amorim’s side sealed a place in the semi-finals of the Europa League with a dramatic 5-4 win over the French opposition.
Prior to that, they lost 4-1 to Newcastle United and are winless in the Premier League in their last three games. As for Wolves, they have had more rest time, having not played since last Sunday, when they claimed a significant 4-2 win over Tottenham.
Vitor Pereira’s team are unbeaten in their last five games, claiming wins over Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich Town and Tottenham.
Ahead of the clash, Yoro, Diogo Dalot and Casemiro have posted pre-match graphic previews of the Wolves fixture to their Instagram story. This suggests they will be involved in some capacity.
Yoro has started United’s last three Premier League matches and played the full 120 minutes against Lyon.
Dalot, meanwhile, has been an ever-present in the squad, starting all 31 league games so far this season.
Amorim did hint he could be rested after the demanding tie against Lyon. “I have to see it, players like Dalot, they are always ready but today he was really tired,” he said. “The guys that are at risk to have an injury, we will try to save them so we will see tomorrow [Friday].”
That said, young players are also unlikely to see any game time. “I think it is not the best moment or the best season to put some kids to play, because, again, they need a strong base to really show what they can do,” Amorim explained.
“But in this moment we need to do it and sometimes you have surprises. It is a difficult moment, it is not the right moment for the kids to play, but if we have to do it then we will do it.”
Casemiro, on the other hand, has had a mixed season, starting only half of the league games. After being named an unused substitute against Newcastle, it remains to be seen whether he will get the nod this afternoon.
Elsewhere, Amorim will welcome Jonny Evans back from a muscle injury. He was last included in the matchday squad on December 19.
Confirmed squad:
Goalkeepers: Onana, Mee, Heaton.
Defenders: Dalot, Amass, Lindelof, Evans, Maguire, Dorgu, Fredricson, Yoro, Mazraoui.
Midfielders: Eriksen, Casemiro, Fernandes, Mount, Ugarte.
Attackers: Hojlund, Garnacho.
