It’s significantly cheaper than Dyson’s near £300 Cool Tower fan
The UK is set to bask in mid-twenties heat soon, after what feels like an endless winter. While a bit of sun is always welcome, it’s important to be prepared for the muggy and humid British summer.
Our homes are not designed for hot climates; they’re built to trap heat during cold winters. This leaves many people scrambling to buy fans and air conditioning units when summer arrives. The Dyson Cool Tower fan is a popular choice, but with a price tag of £279.99, it’s not affordable for everyone.
For those who don’t want a standard desk fan, like this £39 Dreo one at Amazon, Shark is a cheaper alternative to Dyson. We’ve even found a site selling its portable FlexBreeze fan at a lower price than on its own website.
First-time shoppers at QVC can use the code FIVE4U to get an additional £5 off their order, reports the Liverpool Echo.
While it might seem like a small saving, it brings the price of the hybrid indoor and outdoor fan down to one of the cheapest available, beating both Shark and Lakeland’s prices. It’s also significantly cheaper than Dyson’s near £300 Cool Tower fan.
To find the deal on QVC, follow this link and search for ‘FlexBreeze’ in the shopping toolbar. Our editor, Narin Flanders, tested the appliance last year and in her review for the Mirror she called it a game-changer for the summer.
She said: “I think it’s worth the price. You can use the five-speed FlexBreeze indoors or outdoors, corded or cordless – although you’ll need to charge it before you take it outside for the first time.
“Much to my children’s delight, you can even attach a little water compartment to it and spritz cool water droplets if you’re sitting outside on one of those still and boiling days of the heatwave. The thing I love most is how truly versatile it is. You can unclip the main fan from the stand to make it freestanding with a flick of the wrist, and, suddenly, if you’re having a drink in the garden in the sun and it feels a bit too hot you’ve got a refreshing breeze.”
The innovative fan allows users to customise it according to their needs, coming with 12 different design configurations such as cordless, tabletop, pedestal or outdoor use — among others. As per Narin’s experience, a highlight for her children was the misting attachment that sprays a cooling mist on sweltering days.
Despite its versatility and portability being its USP, Flanders pointed out that it could be improved. She noted: “My only minor quibble is if you’re using it in the full stand it would be handy for it to be a bit taller, but having used it for a while I’m happy to work round that by converting it into a tabletop fan and putting it on a counter or desk instead.”
