Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is set to decide his future next month with a Premier League stay looking likely amid growing top-club interest
Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen will reportedly decide his next club next month, with the young defender said to be keen to remain in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim is expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer window as he looks to overhaul his squad. The Portuguese manager will likely be looking at some fresh central defence reinforcements with Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf both expected to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season.
One of the hottest defenders on the market right now is Bournemouth’s Huijsen. Despite just turning 20 and being in his first full Premier League season, Huijsen has shown maturity beyond his years with some impressive performances this term.
The Cherries’ player recently revealed he has a release clause in his contract worth a reported £50m. If a club activates the clause, Bournemouth will have pulled off a stunning piece of business having bought the player in the summer for just £12m from Juventus.
Alongside Manchester United, the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are all said to be very interested in Huijsen. European clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG are also linked with the youngster who is supposedly close to making a decision on where he sees his future being.
Now, Spanish sports media outlet Relevo claims Huijsen is expected to make his decision next month on where he’ll take his talents.. It is claimed that the Spaniard is most likely to stay in England.
Amongst all the noise, Huijsen’s focus has been helping Bournemouth to finish the season on a positive note. Andoni Iraola’s side had been in genuine Champions League contention, but after a poor run of form seeing them take just two wins from their last 10 games in all competitions, they have fallen off slightly but remain in the hunt for a European spot.
When asked earlier this month if he will still be a t Bournemouth next season, Huijsen said: “I don’t know. I have no idea.”
And when questioned over Real Madrid’s reported interest, and if whether the transfer links annoy him, the defender said: “Not at all. It means that I’m doing things right.
“I don’t read anything. I keep working and remain humble. I’m focused on Bournemouth. We have seven games left and they are important. I’m only thinking about that.”
