The Easter weekend will heavily impact the UK’s television schedules
The BBC have announced a major change as to when EastEnders will be airing on Easter Monday amid a shakeup to their schedule.
It’s been a frantic period for the residents of Albert Square, with four characters leaving on Thursday (April 17).
Just two months on from the death of Martin Fowler, fans were left reeling by several more veteran characters saying goodbye to Walford.
Leading the pack was Sonia Fowler, with the entire week dedicated to Natalie Cassidy’s final scenes as the character first introduced back in 1993.
While it was generally assumed by fans that Sonia’s daughters Bex and Julia would be leaving with her, Bianca Jackson’s decision to leave with them came as a shock.
Celebrity Big Brother’s Patsy Palmer had previously announced in January that she would leaving following her return last year, but her leaving with Natalie had not been advertised.
After the sisters drove off into the sunset to move to Bali, fans have been left wondering just what is next for the soap moving forward.
With Monday (April 21) a bank holiday in the UK, EastEnders will not be airing in its normal timeslot of 7.30pm.
Viewers should be aware that the next episode will be airing 40 minutes earlier at 6.50pm in a rare change.
Airing in place of EastEnders is the TV premiere of Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo remake will be on BBC 1 from 6.50pm.
Directed by the Beetlejuice creator, the 2019 adaption of the animated classic features Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton and of course the beloved elephant.
Additionally, The One Show will be moving to the earlier time of 6.25pm, while Paddy and Chris: Road Tripping will be on at 9pm.
Thankfully, EastEnders will be back in its normal 7.30pm slot on Tuesday (April 22), where it will remain for the rest of the week.
According to the upcoming episode’s official synopsis, Nigel Bates ‘spies an opportunity to prove himself’ amid his battle with dementia.
Meanwhile, Junior Knight will leave Teddy Mitchell with ‘few options’ as they continue to work on an industrial site.
The pair are unaware that the body of Teddy’s son Harry’s girlfriend Shireen Bashar was buried there by Nicola Mitchell.
Shireen mysteriously disappeared before the family moved to Albert Square last year, with fans having to speculate what happened to her for months
Nicola’s attempts to keep her big secret under wraps has seen her begin to sleep with her estranged husband Teddy again.
It appears that the story is going to gain pace in the coming weeks, but can Nicola stop her secret coming to light?
