A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Merseyside.

Merseyside Police were called to Knowsley Heights in Huyton at around 10.30pm on Tuesday (April 15) to a report that a woman had been stabbed inside a flat. The woman, who was taken to hospital but died from her injuries, has been named as Rebekah Campbell.

Michael Ormandy, 34, of Linacre Road, in Litherland, was arrested on suspicion of murder on the same evening.

Merseyside Police have now confirmed that he has been charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday (April 19).

In a statement, the force said: “We can confirm that a man has been charged with murder following a domestic incident in Huyton on Tuesday 15 April.

“At around 10.30pm, we received a report that a woman, now known to be 32-year-old Rebekah Campbell, had been stabbed inside a flat at Knowsley Heights.

“Officers attended and gave first aid to Rebekah until paramedics arrived. She was taken to hospital but sadly died from her injuries.

“Michael Ormandy, 34, of Linacre Road, in Litherland, was arrested the same evening and has today, Thursday 17 April, been charged with murder.

“He has been remanded into custody and will next appear at Liverpool Magistrate’s Court on Saturday 19 April.”

A series of heartbreaking tributes have been shared on social media following the death of Rebekah, including from her loved ones who described the 32-year-old woman as a “beautiful, caring” woman who “loved being around her family and friends”.

“You can also request information under Clare’s Law, the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme.

“This scheme enables the police to release information about any previous history of violence or abuse a person might have.”
