Coronation Street fans have said they’ve found the ‘new Aggie Bailey’ after the character was given an unexpected mention during the latest episode.

As fans know, Aggie was first introduced to the show in 2019 as part of the new Bailey family, the first regular Black family on the ITV soap.

But it was in June 2023 that the character was last seen on the Street and it was later revealed that Aggie had gone to Birmingham to look after her unwell aunt.

But Corrie fans have been confused about the lack of Aggie mentions in recent scenes as her daughter, Dee-Dee, almost lost her life following the birth of her first child.

During Wednesday night’s (April 16) Corrie, Dee-Dee bumped into Wes Fuller on the street and recognised him from the hospital. As she asked him what she was doing in the area, he shared that he was picking up a prescription for his mum from the local GP.

Dee-Dee soon opened up about the complaint process and told how she thinks one rogue nurse brings the rest of them down. While understanding, Wes urged the local legal expert to reconsider launching a complaint against midwife Zoe, even offering to be a support for her if she needed it.

Dee-Dee seemed a bit taken aback by Wes’ stance but did seem to be given food for thought. As they prepared to part ways, Wes offered Dee-Dee his number so she could keep in touch if she needed any help or someone to lean on.

It came after Dee-Dee had a run in with Asha Alahan. After she attended a meeting with the hospital to discuss the poor treatment she received, she spotted Asha chatting to Zoe, the midwife whose job is now at risk after Dee-Dee’s complaint.

Asha, who works as a paramedic, sympathised with Zoe and later visited Dee-Dee and asked her to consider the pressure that NHS staff are under.

It was then Dee-Dee brought in her mother as she replied: “I get that. You know my mum’s a nurse. And honestly, she doesn’t quite understand why I’m making this complaint either.”

Corrie fans were quick to pick up the reference and took to social media to comment, while also dubbing Asha as the next Aggie thanks to her medical role.
