Jack has been engaged to Hanni Treweek for almost a year

Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd’s fiancee has admitted why she needs ‘breathing space’ as she came to his defence over Celebrity Big Brother’s nominations.

Despite fans loving the David Platt actor being on the ITV reality show, Jack has already been up for eviction twice.

Away from the show, Jack has been engaged to his partner Hanni Treweek since last year, with the Corrie star proposing while on a safari holiday in Tanzania.

On Thursday’s (April 17) episode of Lorraine, Christine Lampard was joined by Hanni as she had her say on how Jack is doing in the house.

“I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion about Jack. You have to remember, he’s had no reality TV experience. This is the first time he’s done anything like this.

“He was definitely finding his feet and I feel like now he’s going through a journey. We’re seeing way more funniness from him and he’s got way more to show,” she said.

Hanni added: “Did you see his dancing the other day? It was absolutely brilliant, he’s getting more comfortable now. He’s coming out of his shell. We also have to remember he’s only been in the house for just over a week.

“Although it’s very intense and hard, they haven’t been in the house for that long. Maybe when the group gets smaller we might see a bit more of Jack opening up.

“Ultimately, he is in there to have a good time, have a bit of fun, and make sure we’re all laughing. He’s doing such a great job in the house. I’m so proud of him.”

When it comes to Jack’s new friendship with EastEnders Patsy Palmer, Hanni said they’re ‘getting on so well’ and their roast battle was ‘iconic to watch’.

One big part of Jack’s personality is his love of tea, with viewers almost guaranteed to see him with a warm brew in his hand.

“I would say in one day we are looking at about eight cups of tea. In the Big Brother house, he’s going towards double digits. They stay up so late as well.

“He makes a brilliant cup of tea and that’s what I really miss. When he’s at the house, I need him to make a cup of tea,” Hanni admitted.

Quizzed by Christine if she was annoyed by Jack talking about their upcoming wedding, Hanni said: “He was just having a really natural conversation.

“It’s already out there that we’re getting married in July. We’ve got plenty to look forward to, but we’re getting married.”

While she’s loving seeing Jack on the programme, Hanni opened up about the toll that travelling from Manchester to London for the live evictions has had on her.

“I cannot go down to London again, I need some breathing space. We need to manifest that he’s not up for eviction. We need some space,” she told Christine.

With another live eviction to take place on Friday (April 18), it remains to be seen if Hanni gets a break and Jack can enjoy a few days in the house without fearing being eliminated.
