Homes were evacuated after a car was smashed into a property, causing residents to be checked over by paramedics in north Manchester on Wednesday (April 16).

Bricks were sent crumbling into the ground after the car veered off the road and hit the front of a house in Blackley, with a glass door window also shattered.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two homes were evacuated as a precaution following the collision, and that two people were checked over by paramedics at the scene. One man was taken to hospital.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the incident on Moston Road in Blackley at around 1.20pm, at the junction with Upper Conran Street.

A white Nissan was also left with a badly damaged bumper following the collision and was seen at the roadside, as part of the road was blocked by emergency crews.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they responded at 1.22pm to reports of a collision between a car and a house along with colleagues from NWAS and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 1:30pm today, firefighters were called to reports of a crash on Moston Lane in Manchester.

“Two fire engines from Manchester central fire station as well as the technical rescue unit from Leigh fire station quickly arrived at the scene, where a car had crashed into a residential property.

“One male casualty was treated at the scene by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and taken to hospital.

“A further female casualty was also treated at the scene. Residents at two neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution. Crews remain in attendance while they continue to make the scene safe.”
