Former Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing and scoring goals at the age of 40.
Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes believes former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo could become either manager or president at the Spanish club in the future.
Ronaldo joined Madrid from United in June 2009 and earned legendary status at the Bernabeu, scoring a jaw-dropping 451 goals in 438 appearances. He also won 15 major trophies, including four Champions League titles.
He left Madrid after nine years to join Juventus in 2018 before returning to Old Trafford in 2021. He left United for a second time just over a year later, moving to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Nassr.
Despite not yet showing any signs of plans to hang up his boots, talk of what the Portuguese international will do after retirement is a regular topic. And in the opinion of Morientes, Ronaldo, who scored 26 goals during his second spell at Old Trafford, has the potential to become manager or president at Madrid.
“I can see Cristiano Ronaldo as Real Madrid manager or president because he has a big ego, a huge personality and is eager to take on big challenges,” Morientes said, speaking to bet365, who offer the latest UEFA Champions League odds.
“I can’t imagine Cristiano Ronaldo retiring and going to live on a farm 3,000 kilometres from the city.
“I can’t imagine that at all. He’s not that kind of player or person.
“I imagine him taking on challenges. Managing Real Madrid would be one of them.
“Hypothetically, that’s true, you need a lot of things to be president of Real Madrid. But he might take the path that leads to the wonderful world of coaching.”
