Naga Munchetty was forced to intervene after Matt Tebbutt suffered a red faced moment on-air
BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty was on hand to rectify a small blunder after Matt Tebbutt appeared via video link to update viewers on today’s Saturday Kitchen.
Usually, Naga and Charlie Stayt kick off BBC Breakfast from 6am and then pass the reins over to Matt and his team from 10am but due to a schedule shake up, Saturday Kitchen had been brought forward by 30 minutes.
Commenting on the switch up, Naga remarked: “Good morning. It’s a little bit of an earlier start for you today,” then proceeded to ask: “How does that feel?” reports Express.
Finding himself in the company of food writer Tom Parker-Bowles and Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood, Matt acknowledged: “Yes, it is, we’re on at 9.30am today and we’re in the middle of rehearsing, hence the mess around me.”
Craig couldn’t resist chipping in with his renowned sense of humour, quipping: “Are you talking about me darling?” This prompted Matt to clarify, in a humorous tone: “No not you, him,” gesturing towards Tom.

As each guest and chef briefly described what they planned to contribute to the day’s show, the segment should’ve seen Matt handing back to the BBC Breakfast presenters.
However, Naga had to step in to outline a timing mix-up to Matt despite their earlier discussions about the schedule.
Matt told viewers: “There you go, lots going on, we’ll see you at 10am,” only to be swiftly corrected by Naga, who chimed in with, “No, you won’t, you’ll see us at 9.30am.”
A flustered Matt hurriedly rectified his mistake, reiterating: “9.30am, 9.30am, you’ll see us at 9.30am.” This slight slip-up sparked a lighthearted jab from Naga, who teased: “Well done, Matt. Thank goodness you’re rehearsing there, hey,” prompting Matt and the Saturday Kitchen crew to erupt into laughter.
This incident follows a previous controversy surrounding Naga, who was criticised by viewers for her perceived reprimand of Kemi Badenoch for not watching the Netflix series Adolescence.
The exchange began when Charlie inquired, “Have you watched Adolescence yet?” and Kemi candidly replied, “No, no, I haven’t, and I probably won’t. It’s a film on Netflix, and most of my time right now is spent visiting the country.”
Naga jumped into the conversation, expressing her surprise and stating: “It’s a four-part series on Netflix, and everyone is talking about it. It is prompting conversations about toxic masculinity, smartphone use, young men feeling that they’re being ignored, and the idea of misogyny being increased in school.”
When Naga continued questioning her, asking: “Why would you not want to know what people are talking about?” Kemi replied by stressing the significance of these issues, saying: “Well, I think that they are all important issues, and those are issues that I’ve been talking about for a long time.”
She further explained: “But just as I don’t need to watch Casualty to know what’s going on in the NHS, I don’t need to watch a specific Netflix drama to understand what’s going on, it’s a fictional series, it is not a documentary.”
BBC Breakfast airs every day from 6am, on BBC One.
