The Premier League is globally recognised as the pinnacle of football, housing some of the world’s most costly players.

However, there’s a significant disparity from the top to the bottom of the league. Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland tops the list of each top-flight club’s most expensive star as Manchester City’s priciest player.

His 10-year contract signed earlier this year places him in the potential of a new world record transfer fee. The CIES Football Observatory compiled the list, with the duration of a player’s contract playing a significant part.

With Haaland expected to remain at the Etihad until 2034, they estimate his worth between £188million-£239m – potentially topping Neymar’s £200m move to PSG in 2017 if he were to depart.

Chelsea secure second position with Cole Palmer, whose contract is only a year shorter than Haaland’s. His projected value ranges from £95m to £120m, surpassing Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal’s key player is contracted at the Emirates until 2027, which contributes to his £84m-£106m valuation. Champions League contenders Aston Villa also feature in the top four of this list with Morgan Rogers valued at £74m-£94m, reports the Mirror.

Liverpool rank fifth, but not with the player you might anticipate. With Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contracts all due to expire, their most expensive player is Ryan Gravenberch (£71m-£90m).

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has been valued at between £70m and £89m by CIES, despite the club reportedly setting a £150m asking price. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund is valued at £62m-£79m, even though it seems unlikely that the Red Devils will recoup much of their £72m investment in the underperforming forward.

In a surprising turn, Bournemouth’s Ilya Zabarnyi is ranked eighth. His centre-back partner Dean Huijsen has been making headlines this season, but Zabarnyi’s valuation of £52m-£67m surpasses Huijsen’s £50m release clause having only extended his contract last summer.

Brighton’s Carlos Baleba (£51m-£64m) and Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson (£50m-£63m) complete the top 10. Other notable mentions include Jarrad Branthwaite in 15th place and Marc Guehi in 18th.

Both English internationals were in high demand last summer, with Everton refusing to accept less than £70m for Branthwaite from United and Crystal Palace demanding a similar amount for Guehi. However, CIES estimates Branthwaite’s worth to be half that figure, while Guehi’s value is believed to be below £30m as he enters the final year of his contract.
