A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash on a notorious road.

The incident happened at 11.15pm yesterday (April 10) on the A537 Buxton New Road, near to the Cat and Fiddle Inn, Macclesfield.

According to Cheshire Police, officers attended and found there had been a collision between a beige camper van and a blue Suzuki bike.

The rider of the bike, a 70-year-old man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary by air ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The occupants of the camper van, a 60-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, were uninjured.

Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.

The location of the accident is a known accident blackspot. The pub is the second highest in England and popular with motorcycle riders.
