Jadon Sancho assisted twice for Chelsea amid reports of a Manchester United return

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho played a key role in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw amid links over an Old Trafford return.

The 25-year-old was the orchestrator for two of the Londoners’ goals as they took a huge stride toward qualification for the UEFA Conference League semi-finals.

Chelsea overcame the potential banana skin in Poland thanks to Noni Madueke’s double added to Tyrique George’s opener after 49 minutes.

Sancho’s heroics come during an uncertain period for the England international as the possibility of a permanent transfer to Stamford Bridge has been under scrutiny.

The former Borussia Dortmund attacker has enjoyed a strong start to life in west London but has struggled during a downturn in form for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan in August in a deal that included an obligation to buy for between £20m and £25m, providing the London club finish at least 14th in the Premier League this season.

But it has been reported that Chelsea could pay a smaller fee not to take the England international on permanently.

It’s looked all but certain that the Italian will guide them to a European place, as they currently sit in the top four, after being one of the early pace-setters alongside Liverpool.

Since joining, he has only scored twice in his 29 games and has provided five assists in the Premier League, as well as four in Europe – with the flurry on Thursday doubling his tally for the season.

He provided four assists in his first three matches but has registered just one more (against Crystal Palace in January) since.

According to the Daily Mail, Sancho ‘looks likely to return to United’ initially in the summer and Chelsea are exploring options that can bolster their attack with reports suggesting Maresca’s men will try to sign Jesus Rodriguez.
