Here’s what you need to know:
Man United will lock horns with Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has named a 23-man squad for Thursday night’s Europa League quarter-final first leg clash with Lyon.
Ahead of the trip to France, United have been boosted by the return of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. He featured in this morning’s open training session at Carrington, offering a suggestion he could make the final squad.
The England international has been sidelined for two months with a muscle injury, last featuring when United beat Leicester City 2-1 in the FA Cup on February 7, meaning he has missed the last ten games.
Amorim, speaking to the media last Friday, said the midfielder would be assessed ahead of the 0-0 draw with Manchester City with a view to potentially being involved. However, he was not named in the squad.
But after training with the main group earlier today, he has been deemed fit enough to be included in the squad for the trip to Lyon, meaning he could make his long-awaited comeback against the Ligue 1 side.
On the flip side, United will once again be without Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven. The former picked up an injury against Nottingham Forest last Tuesday night and subsequently missed the draw with City.
Jonny Evans and Toby Collyer are also unavailable. It is understood Collyer has a knock.
Elsewhere, youngsters Jaydan Kamason, Harry Amass and Jack Moorhouse have been included in the travelling squad. Striker Chido Obi is once again unavailable for selection after not being included in United’s revised squad for the Europa League knockout stages.
Confirmed travelling squad:
Goalkeepers: Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton.
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Leny Yoro, Godwill Kukonki, Jaydan Kamason, Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, Harry Amass.
Midfielders: Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Jack Moorhouse, Bruno Fernandes.
Attackers: Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund.
