Easter weekend is expected to see some significant changes for supermarket opening and closing times across England and Wales

Easter weekend is set to see a number of disruptions to some of Britain’s largest and most popular supermarkets.

Easter Sunday, which is set to land on April 20, will see most shops completely closed. Meanwhile, Good Friday on April 18 and Easter Monday on April 21 are both bank holidays which means some shops may choose to remain open but with altered opening and closing hours.

Keep in the mind that the majority of stores that are expected to close on Easter Sunday in England and Wales are likely to remain open in Scotland. Further details on these times can be found below.

Morrisons

Most Morrisons stores will be opening at 7am until 10pm on Good Friday but will be operating normal times on Saturday. However, on Easter Sunday they will close their doors while operating from 7am to 8pm on average on Easter Monday.

Asda

Most Asda stores will be opening at 7am and closing at 10pm on Good Friday and the following Saturday with most stores closing on Easter Sunday. Similarly, Easter Monday will see opening times of 7am until 10pm.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s stores will generally be opening form 7am to 10pm on Good Friday and the following Saturday. While many larger stores will close on Easter Sunday, some smaller ones will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Lidl

Lidl branches are generally expected to maintain their usual trading hours on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. However, they are expected to close doors on Easter Sunday.

Co-op

Due to British laws, smaller Co-op stores are not obliged to close their doors over the Easter period while the larger ones are. However, some smaller locations may choose to change their hours over Easter.

Tesco

Due to the variety in Tesco stores across the country, some larger ones will shut early on Good Friday while smaller ones may open later. However, all bigger stores are expected to close on Easter Sunday, with potentially reduced operating hours on Easter Monday.

On Good Friday and the following Saturday most Aldi stores will be open form 8am to 10pm. However, the majority in England and Wales will close their doors on Easter Sunday with a limited opening time on Easter Monday, generally opening at 8am and closing on 8pm.
