Georgia Jones has spoken out about a parenting “misconception” in her latest Mum’s The Word! podcast episode, which aired on Monday.

This discussion comes shortly after a headline-making scandal involving her husband, McFly’s Danny Jones. She chatted in a new podcast episode recorded on Valentine’s Day, just before the BRIT Awards where Danny Jones was reportedly seen “kissing” fellow ‘I’m A Celebrity’ star Maura Higgins.

Georgia tackled the subject of paternal affection and expressions of concern within relationships. Having taken a break from the podcast following the incident, with co-host Kelsey Parker filling in, Georgia returned to delve into these themes with Matt and Lawrence from the Secret Life of Dads podcast.

During the conversation, she highlighted that when fathers communicate their worries in a light-hearted way, it might be misinterpreted by their partners as them being okay when they are not.

Georgia’s comments underscored that while mothers often receive significant attention post-birth, there needs to be greater support for fathers, particularly concerning their mental health.

She noted: “So, we kind of just go, ‘Oh, they’re fine; they’re fine’. You know, we’re the ones that have had the baby, and this comes from no bad place from me, I totally understand.”

Adding to her point about the pressures faced by new fathers, she stated: “Like, I actually don’t think there is enough support for dads, especially in terms of mental health after having babies. But, I dunno, I think because we just think, ‘you’re the strong ones and you’re gonna be okay’, which is a complete misconception of men.”

She further clarified: “You don’t always have to be strong, and you don’t always have to be okay. When you do then come and say something to us like, ‘Oh, one day they’ll love me’, but jokey, we don’t realise it’s actually something that maybe is affecting you a little bit.”

Danny and ex-Love Island star Maura were reportedly partying until 6am on the night of the BRITs, with a video surfacing online that seemed to show the pair kissing.

Two weeks later, Danny addressed the rumours on his Instagram Story, stating: “Hello everyone. Sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.

“I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.

“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding and support. See you all soon, Danny.”

Danny was named King of the Jungle in the latest series of I’m A Celeb, with Coleen Rooney coming in second and Reverend Richard Coles in third place. Meanwhile, Maura exited the competition in sixth place.
