Real Betis have every intention of trying to keep Man United winger Antony beyond the end of his loan spell this summer.
Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has said the Spanish club will “do everything possible” to keep Manchester United winger Antony beyond the end of this season.
The Brazilian has offered green shoots of recovery in La Liga since arriving on loan in the January transfer window, scoring four goals and registering four assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
The winger, who joined United from Ajax back in September 2022, joined Betis for the remainder of the season after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford. He had made just 14 appearances this season prior to his departure and had not started a league game since May 2024.
However, his temporary switch to Spain has offered him the opportunity to resurrect his career after failing to live up to expectations in M16.
He has impressed so much that Betis are determined to keep hold of him beyond the end of his loan spell.
“It’s a source of personal satisfaction, but it’s the result of teamwork,” said Fajardo, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo. “I’m responsible for the sporting direction, but there are many people involved in this signing.
“It’s still early, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony.”
Under contract at United until 2027, with the option of an additional year, reports coming out of Spain are suggesting Betis may attempt to keep hold of Antony by signing him on loan again, but this time for the duration of the full season.
United plan on cutting their cloth this summer, meaning they are planning on having to sell to buy, but a season-long loan move with a view to a permanent deal may represent their best chance of offloading Antony.
The deal that saw him move to Betis in January was a straight loan, featuring no option for Betis to automatically turn his stay into a permanent one this summer.
