Fire crews are at the scene

People are being urged to avoid the area as firefighters tackle a blaze at a Greater Manchester reservoir.

Fire crews are at the scene at Dovestone Reservoir on Sunday evening (April 6).

Photographs from the reservoir show a plume of smoke rising from the fire.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Our crews are currently tackling a wildfire at Dovestone Reservoir in Oldham. Please avoid the area and close your windows and doors if you live nearby.”
