Tributes have been pouring in following the tragic deaths of a 10-year-old girl and her father in a caravan fire on a holiday park.
The emergency services were called to the Goldenbeach Holiday Park in Roman Bank in Ingoldmells in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 5).
Lincolnshire police have confirmed that an investigation into the tragedy is ongoing. The two victims have been named as Lee Baker and daughter Esme on a fundraising page set up to raise money for their family. It described the pair as ‘two peas in a pod’ who were ‘both happy go lucky people who loved life’.

The page, set up by Paige Richmond, says: “Unfortunately on the morning of the April 5, a fire broke out taking the lives of both father Lee and daughter Esme, just ten years old at their holiday home within Ingoldmells, Skegness.
“Lee and Esme were two peas in a pod, both happy go-lucky people who loved life. They were and forever remain adored by Genette, his oldest daughter Paige and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting them.
“A charity night is to be later announced to celebrate the life of these two individuals sadly lost far too early. Information to be announced at a later date, to which anyone is welcome All contributions are being paid to Lee and Esme’s family.” At the time of writing around £3,000 had been donated.
The message added that flowers were due to be laid on Sunday morning (April 6) beside the Sandancer pub at the holiday park.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We are very sad to confirm that two people have died following a caravan fire at Goldenbeach Holiday Park, Roman Bank, Ingoldmells.
“We were called at 3.53 am today (April 5) to a report of a caravan fire at the holiday park where two people have tragically lost their lives. Their next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers.
“Fire and rescue crews attended from Skegness, Wainfleet, Spilsby and Alford. There are two crews still at the scene and fire investigations are on-going. We have crime scene investigators on site, and we are carrying out inquiries to determine the exact cause of the fire. We are at the very early stages of our investigation and as such we are keeping an open mind. “
In a post on Facebook, The Ye Olde Sun Inn in Retford has shared a picture of Lee, saying he’ll always have a seat at the bar.
Underneath more than a hundred people have paid tribute, with one writing: “My friend, my neighbour. The kindness and friendship this absolute diamond of a man showed me I will never forget. I can’t believe it. I am heartbroken.”
Another wrote: I’ve only lived in Retford for two years and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to call this man a friend. I’m truly stunned by the news.”
