Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore will return to Rotherham for the final two games of their season.

Gore took part in first-team training at Carrington on Wednesday morning and he is set to return to Rotherham, who he joined on loan in January, for their final two matches in League One.

The youngster picked up a foot injury shortly after signing for the Millers and returned to Carrington for treatment. Gore’s rehabilitation has been successful and he will join up with his loan club to see out the remainder of the season.

Rotherham have Stevenage and Peterborough still to play and Gore could feature.

After his return to United in February, Gore issued a statement and admitted he was “absolutely gutted” to have picked up the issue. “Having loved the start to my time here and been made to feel so welcome by everyone at the club, I am absolutely gutted to have picked up an injury,” he said.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I would play through any pain if I physically could, but unfortunately, I need to take a few weeks out. I’ll be giving everything to get back as soon as possible to contribute to the team and be able to play in front of the fans again.”

Gore has suffered a rotten spell of bad luck with injuries. He picked up an injury in his first game on loan with Port Vale last season and subsequently suffered a freak shoulder injury.

The 20-year-old captained the Under-21s until joining Rotherham on loan. His campaign has been stop-start due to injuries, but Gore will be hoping to get back up to peak fitness ahead of pre-season.

Gore’s partnership in midfield with Kobbie Mainoo was crucial to the 2022 FA Youth Cup success, and he was handed his senior debut against Crystal Palace by Erik ten Hag in October 2023.

His contract with United expires in the summer of 2026.
