Victoria refused to keep John’s secret as she threatened to reveal all to Aaron

Emmerdale fans issued a warning that Victoria is ‘playing with fire’ as John Sugden’s previous engagement to Aidan Moore is revealed.

During Tuesday’s (April 22) hour-long instalment, Victoria Sugden met up with Connor – an ex-Army friend of John’s in an attempt to find more friends to join his stag-do, despite his protests.

Upon meeting with Connor, Victoria is shocked to learn that Aidan Moore isn’t dead, but actually alive in a hospital in Leeds.

He also dropped the bombshell that Aidan and John were engaged but tried to keep it on the downlow from their colleagues. Connor went onto add that John tried stabilising Aidan after the explosion, but was unsuccessful.

In recent weeks, viewers have seen John’s true colours slowly start to appear as flashbacks showed him desperately trying to act as the “hero” and prove something to himself and those around him.

So far, we know that he switched Chas’ pills causing her to collapse, he gave Jacob an anaphylactic shock, and accidentally killed Nate Robinson in an attempt to save his life after the barn fire.

Viewers also watched as he nominated himself for an award, as he tries to prove that he’s capable of his job after Liam caught him slacking.

Victoria was quick to confront her half-brother after her chat with Connor, as she said: “I thought it would be nice to invite some friends to your stag do. Instead, I learn that you were engaged to Aidan, and that he’s still alive. So, I went to see him at Hotten General. Why did you lie to me?”

John replied: “He didn’t die, I save his life… I should’ve let him die…. His mum has to see him in that state, and it’s my fault.

“This man that I loved, so full of life, is now lying there with zero chance of recovery no matter how much blind faith his mum still has. I made the wrong call, I sentenced him to a living death”.

He went onto add he tried to save him, and with Victoria much calmer she reassured John that it wasn’t really his fault. John admitted he doesn’t want to see himself as a “failure” or a “liar” and promised her to keep it a secret from Aaron.

However, viewers are now concerned for Victoria if she ends up spilling the beans to Aaron as she refused to lie for him. On a Facebook fan page, a fan wrote: “Victoria is playing with fire” with another who replied: “She’s going to regret that very quickly!”

A third viewer added: “There’s no way that John is going to let Victoria get away with not only exposing him as being engaged, but lying about a death and his hero complex to Aaron. She’s in serious danger, that man is not well.”
