A huge emergency response raced to a residential street in north Manchester on Monday evening (April 21) as the area was taped off.

Police, paramedics and fire crews flooded Edgware Road and Edenbridge Road in the Clayton area shortly before 5pm to a concern for welfare report.

Pictures and videos shared online showed unmarked police vehicles, along with fire engines and police vans lining the street with a cordon also put in place.

Officers could be seen speaking to residents and later leading a group away from the scene amid the response. The scene remained in place for around 90 minutes before it was stood down.

Emergency services had been called to the concern for the welfare of a man. Police later confirmed a man, aged in his late 30s, was detained at the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene to assist police.
