The New York Times famously does not print cartoons or comic strips, but they did on Earth Day.
Don Addis (1935-2009) made it into many magazines and newspapers during his time as an editorial cartoonist and comic strip creator (Briny Deep, Babyman, and The Great John L) but not The New York Times. Until now.
Admittedly it was to head an Earth Day ad for the Freedom From Religion Foundation, but it seems to be the only way to get a cartoon in The Old Gray Lady anymore – to buy its way in.
