Patricia Moule has won the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw but plans to put the lavish property on the market
A widow who has scooped a stunning house worth £4 million is already planning to sell it to become a multi-millionaire.
Patricia Moule, 81, from Southampton has won the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw and is now the owner of a lavish four-bed property that sits on the shores of Loch Rannoch in Perthshire.
Back in 2012, Patricia shed five stone so she could give her husband of more than 55 years, David, one of her kidneys for a lifesaving operation.
The operation was a success, but David sadly passed away from prostate cancer in 2019.
Now, after winning the dream home as well £250,000 in cash, Patricia says her late husband will be “smiling down on the family”.
The spectacular house offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding Scottish Highlands, and boasts its very own all-weather tennis court.
Patricia’s house came mortgage-free with all stamp duty and legal fees covered, as well as a whopping £250,000 in cash to help her settle in.
Omaze estimates that if she decides to keep the property, the £250,000 would enable her to run the house for more than five years. The house also comes with £160,000 worth of furnishings, ready for Patricia and her family to enjoy the day they get the keys.
If she decided to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could achieve a long-term rental value of between £8,000 – £10,000 per month.
But the grandmother has since decided that she would be better off selling the house and pocketing the money as it will be ‘life-changing’ for her and her family.
Patricia, who bought her £4 million winning entry for just £25 as part of her Omaze subscription, said: “It was just another Friday night really, I was just getting ready to settle down with a cup of coffee and watch a bit of tele. Then all of a sudden, I get a call and the Omaze team turns up to tell me I’ve won a £4 million house in the Scottish Highlands, I was absolutely overwhelmed.
“I made myself a nice gin and tonic to celebrate, but a stiff scotch would’ve probably been more appropriate. Things like this just don’t happen to people like me, I never win anything, the best thing I’ve ever won before this was a doll when I was nine years old—this definitely tops that and was worth waiting 70 years for!”
On her new house, Patricia said: “It’s breathtaking up here, it’s like something from a film, come to think of it I must watch Braveheart now I own a home in Scotland.
“The house is enormous, it might take me a week to look around the place, I think I’ll need a map! I can’t believe I’ve got a loch at the end of my garden, it’s just incredible. The scenery is spectacular, I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in all my life.”
Speaking of David, who she lost 6 years ago, Patricia said: “I’ve been to Scotland before, as my late husband David was a golf fanatic, so we came up to play here. I know he’ll be smiling down on us now, he’d have absolutely loved this place and everything that it will do for us.
“I gave him a kidney back in 2012, it meant I got to spend seven more years with my best friend. I wish he was still here to share this with me, but I know he’d be beyond happy for all of us.”
Patricia says by selling the house, the money will be ‘transformational’ for her family – including her daughter Sarah, 57, and granddaughter Louisa, 18.
“Thanks to the £250,000 I also got as part of my win, I could afford to stay here for years if I wanted to, but I will sell it as the huge amount of money from the sale is so transformational for the family, it’s a generational legacy that means their future is now secure,” she says.
“We’ll definitely come up for a big family holiday before we sell it though, and one of us may take a dip in the loch. My granddaughter loves painting and you can’t get much more picturesque than this place, she’ll be getting her easel up here in no time.”
As well as making Patricia a multimillionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Scotland, raised £3.9 million for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
On the donation to Alzheimer’s Research UK: “I’m so happy Omaze has raised so much for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My son-in-law’s mother had Alzheimer’s and recently passed away, so we know firsthand how important Alzheimer’s Research UK is, it’s a charity that means a lot to all the family.”
