For Manchester United concentration will now be on the Europa League with Ruben Amorim’s side aiming to go all the way in the competition.

With the team sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, success in the Europa League would not only bring the first piece of silverware under the new manager, but would also see the club qualify for Champions League football next season.

United are now in the quarter-finals, but have to get past Ligue 1 side Lyon if they wish to progress further in the competition. The team have made the journey over to France for Thursday night’s clash.

They will host their opponents at Old Trafford for the second leg of the quarter-final on week later or Thursday, 17 April (8pm kick-off).

Should they get past Lyon, then United already have an idea of who they could face in the semi-final of the competition. It means that eyes may be on the other games going on at the same time as United’s.

Who will be the semi-final opponents?

Should United progress to the semi-final of the competition, they will take on the winner of the quarter-final between Rangers and Athletic Bilbao.

When will the semi-final be?

The first leg of the semi-final will take place away from home on Thursday, 1 May. The second leg will then take place at Old Trafford a week later on Thursday, 8 May.

When is the Europa League final played?

The Europa League final in scheduled for Wednesday, 21 May with kick-off at 8pm.

It will take place at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.
