Manchester United have been linked with Victor Osimhen, who netted his 30th goal of the season on Tuesday

Manchester United-linked Victor Osimhen was on target for Galatasaray on Tuesday as speculation continues to swirl surrounding the Nigerian international. The 26-year-old opened the scoring against Konyaspor as the Turkish giants emphatically booked their place in the domestic cup final in a 5-1 triumph.

It moved Osimhen to 30 for the season after making the surprise move to Turkey after an exit was sanctioned by Napoli manager Antonio Conte.

The attacker has long been linked with a move away from the Serie A with Paris Saint-Germain suitors as well as a host of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea who were the subject of intense speculation over Osimhen during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen’s jaw-dropping goal return includes 21 in 25 Turkish Super Lig appearances, three in as many games in the cup and six in seven during their Europa League campaign which came to an end in the playoff round against Real Sociedad.

Taking to Instagram, Osimhen created a wordless post with a carousel of pictures from his goalscoring exploits in their semi-final.

He also shared a series of stories with celebration pictures with his teammates and reaching the final.

United’s strikers have struggled for form this season, but Osimhen’s ability to find the back of the net while firing his side to a final will send a clear message to the decision-makers at Old Trafford as they work out how to rectify the situation in the summer transfer window.

The Mirror reported that United are pushing ahead with a £40million to sign him this summer, it has been claimed that Ruben Amorim has made the 26-year-old his top attacking target this summer.

The attacking ranks at Old Trafford have come underfire after high-profile arrivals Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have failed to reach the heights that earned them a move to the Premier League.

Osimhen is heading into the last year of his contract which could force Napoli to sell him, otherwise risk losing him as a free agent upon the expiry of his deal.

In January, the Italian side sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG after a transfer tug-of-war began in Naples but Osimhen faces similar fate with increasing scrutiny over his future.

United are said to be working under financial restraints due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and the prospect of Osimehn leaving next season, it has been reported that there is confidence that they can sign the Nigerian at a discounted price.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News understands that United are planning for three attacking sales to fund moves for Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap.

Among those who could be used to fund the new arrivals is Marcus Rashford, who is enjoying good form at Aston Villa during his loan spell, and has a £40million option as part of the deal.

Chelsea also have an obligation to sign Jadon Sancho, worth in the region of £20m and £25m, and Antony, who is also on loan, has been in good form for Real Betis with his value rising amid his good form in La Liga.
