The latest Man Utd transfer news and rumours as Tyler Dibling, who has been tentatively linked with a transfer to Old Trafford, speaks out on his Southampton future.
Tyler Dibling has broken silence on rumours linking him with a £100million transfer away from Southampton this summer – with Manchester United among the Premier League clubs mooted to be interested.
The Saints’ 19-year-old forward has been a shining light in a very dismal season for the south coast side. Dibling has bagged four goals and two assists in his first full Premier League season, while his work with the ball has also made him hot-property leading into the upcoming summer transfer window.
Ex-Southampton manager, Russell Martin, recently revealed that Dibling was “the most talented player” he’s ever seen. With the relegated side determined to keep hold of their academy graduate, they slapped an eye-watering £100million price tag on Dibling – according to reports – to ward off any interest in the forward.
That value has now allegedly dropped to £60million with the Saints preparing for the Championship next season. Despite the reduction in price, Dibling’s teammates haven’t forgotten his original nine-figure price tag – especially Aaron Ramsdale.
Dibling said: “Rambo loves it. I’ll miss a shot in training and he’ll just go; ‘£90million! £80million’! As it keeps going down. It’s all good fun. There’s a few nicknames going around.
“It’s all jokes. Nobody takes it seriously. It’s just a number. It’s all fun.
“I don’t try to think about it and just try and go into train every day and work hard and train the best I can. At the end of the day, I love Southampton. I have been here since I was eight. It’s such a great team and I am working to do big things with them.”
Dibling’s contract with Southampton doesn’t run out until 2027. Though, after having proved himself as a Premier League-level player, it’s unlikely the forward will want to stay with the club in the Championship.
The 19-year-old has also attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and German clubs, such as Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig. United’s chances of signing Dibling will likely take a big increase if they win the Europa League, giving them automatic Champions League qualification for next season.
