Loved ones of motorcyclist Scott Ashton have paid their respects
Tributes have been paid to a motorcyclist with a ‘big heart’ who tragically died following a horror crash in Lancashire.
Officers were called out to Park Road in Chorley, north of Wigan and Bolton, at 5.30pm on Monday (April 14) following reports of a collision.
Lancashire Police says a Kawasaki ZX 600 motorbike heading north from Chorley town centre lost control on a right-hand bend, close to the entrance with Astley Park.
The rider has now been named as 52-year-old Scott Ashton. He sadly died in the early hours of Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family, a statement issued by Lancashire Police said.
The family added: “Scott was a much-loved father, brother and uncle and was also a good friend to many.
“Scott had a big heart and was always happy to help anyone. We are devastated by this sad loss and will miss him deeply.
“We would like to thank everyone who witnessed the accident and tried to help, you will never know how much that means to us and will remain ever grateful .
“Many thanks to the emergency services who worked speedily to ensure he had the best possible chance of survival.

“And to each and every member of staff and medical professionals, doctors at the Royal Preston Hospital for informing us every step of the way, allowing such a large family to be with him under difficult circumstances. We cannot thank you enough.”
Lancashire Police says Scott’s family is being supported by specially trained officers following the crash.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and any witnesses are being urged to come forward.
Sergeant Laura Kendall, of Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “First and foremost, my thoughts remain with Scott’s family at this difficult time.
“We are continuing to appeal for information or footage that could assist our enquiries into the collision.
“If you witnessed the collision, or saw the motorbike prior to the collision, please get in touch.”
