A woman accused of killing a motorcyclist in a crash has been cleared.

Mia Dacosta, 28, had been charged with causing death by careless driving following the death of Raymond Parker.

Ms Dacosta was said to have been involved in a collision with with Mr Parker, who was riding on a motorbike at the time, when driving a Mercedes A180 on Hall Street in Stockport on July 25, 2021.

A police investigation was launched after the fatal collision, with Hall Street taped off by emergency services at the junction with St Mary’s Way.

Ms Dacosta appeared before magistrates back in September 2023 and pleaded not guilty, before she was granted bail and the case was transferred to Minshull Street Crown Court for trial.

On the day the trial was due to begin (April 14), prosecutors told Judge Mark Savill that they were offering no evidence against her.

Ms Dacosta, of Barnsley Street, was discharged from the dock.
