Around 36% of UK households have a pet dog.

The quote ‘Dogs are a man’s best friend’ dates all the way back to 1789, and archaeology findings show that humans have had pet dogs for more than 14,000 years.

Sadly, there are thousands of pooches up and down the country living in rescues. They are in dire need of being rehomed. Eccles-based rescue centre Dogs 4 Rescue is a kennel-free rescue centre looking to rehome as many pooches as possible.

Based in Greater Manchester, Dogs 4 Rescue have plenty of loveable, affectionate dogs that are looking for a new home.

Emma Billington, Founder, Dogs 4 Rescue, told the MEN: “Dogs 4 Rescue rehoming is all about making the right match. Being a kennel-free rescue we are especially well placed to assess whether a dog is suited to live with another dog and what kind of furfriend they might suit. Others need all your love for themselves and are looking for pet-free homes.

“Whatever the scenario we offer a full one month home trial so you can be sure it’s a right fit for your lifestyle, family and any other pets before making a commitment. We will keep in contact and offer behaviour support where needed, and offer lifetime rescue back up to all of our adopted dogs should the unexpected happen.”

Emma continued: “Our rehoming manager Amy lost her dog of 17 years not long ago and is wonderfully sensitive helping anyone who has experienced pet bereavement. A new companion can never replace them, but your heart grows a little bit more. A good way to test the water is to foster.

“We are always looking for child-free and pet-free foster homes in the Greater Manchester area. We can cover all costs, provide food, bedding, toys, leads and harnesses and all veterinary care. We just need to find those people who want to help us save precious lives in this terrible rescue crisis. Helping a dog on their journey to a forever home is a truly rewarding experience.”

You can choose to adopt or foster dogs with Dogs 4 Rescue and you can fill out an application form by following this link.
