Here’s what you need to know:
Top temperatures in Manchester are expected to hit 20C later this afternoon – but things won’t stay that way
Much of the UK is basking in some of the warmest weather of the year – and it could reach 20C in Greater Manchester this afternoon. But change is on the way.
With a largely cloudless start to the region on Saturday (April 12), temperatures will continue to climb through the morning until mid-to-late afternoon. It will should peak around 3pm, with temperatures of 19C to 20C.
The Met Office forecast for Greater Manchester says: “A sunny morning with some wispy high cloud arriving. Cloudier skies developing through the afternoon with any sunshine turning hazy.”
From the early afternoon, latest weather maps show more cloud developing from around 1pm.
This will continue throughout with the chances of rain increasing as we head into the evening.
The Met Office warns: “Showers becoming more likely for a time this evening, perhaps locally heavy. Some places may remain dry though and turning generally drier later in the night. Staying frost-free for all. Minimum temperature 6 °C.”
Sunday is forecast to be a cooler day but the sun won’t disappear completely, but some light showers and stronger winds are expected.
The Met Office says Sunday will be “often fairly cloudy but occasional sunny intervals are likely.” Adding: “A mainly dry day with just a few isolated light showers. Feeling much cooler compared to lately with brisk westerly winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.”
From Monday to the middle of next week, temperatures won’t be as high as we’ve been treated to this past week, but will still be around or just above average. Sunny spells with showers, some heavy at times, are expected.
