A man has appeared in court accused of robbing the wife of André Onana outside a trendy Alderley Edge restaurant.

Officers were called out to Wilmslow Road, outside the San Carlo restaurant at the junction with London Road, at around 10pm on Saturday, March 29.

Cheshire Police says it received reports of a 35-year-old woman being robbed outside the restaurant.

It is alleged that a gold Rolex watch and a Birkin handbag were stolen from Melanie Kamayou, wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Onana.

In a statement issued this morning (April 7), police confirmed that a 25-year-old man from Bradford was arrested in connection with the alleged incident last Wednesday (April 2).

He has since been charged and named as Liam Ross, of High Street, Wibsey.

Ross was charged with one count of robbery and one count of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs (cannabis).

Cheshire Police says Ross appeared at Chester Magistrates Court last Friday (April 4), where he was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.

He will next appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday, May 2.
