Quick overview:
Dianne Buswell, who landed the Glitterball Trophy with Chris McCausland last year, made the revelation after sharing some of the items that she snapped up in a car boot sale
Dianne Buswell has told Chris McCausland that he makes her “sad” every week after the comedian shared his struggles to enjoy shopping.
The pair, who triumphed in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing, with Chris being the show’s inaugural blind contestant, have taken their camaraderie beyond the dance floor with a new podcast venture.
In an episode of ‘Winning Isn’t Everything,’ Dianne shared her fondness for car boot sales after snagging a few treasures. She encouraged Chris to join her next time.
She even offered to be his “eyes” at the sale. However, Chris admitted he finds browsing difficult and doesn’t think it’s enjoyable.
Chris explained: “I’m basically just in charge of, like, whatever somebody hands me. I can go, ‘Ooh, yeah, that’s nice’, but I can’t…there’s no fun in the actual going rooting around.”
He continued, revealing his love for vinyl records but his preference for online shopping, due to the lack of joy in physically searching through record shops. Chris said: “I like vinyl; I like records, but I don’t really go to record shops because the fun in flicking through records and seeing what they’ve got in stock isn’t there, so I do it all online, Di.”
Dianne responded by saying his admission made her “sad”, prompting Chris to play an emotive sound effect, which he humorously noted took him a “while” to locate, as he quipped about wanting to “prolong the sadness”.
She lamented: “Don’t make me sad like that, Chris. Every week, you make me quite sad. I think…because I think that’s sad to know the fun’s not in it. I reckon if you were to go with me, you would go, ‘Can’t wait for the next boot sale, Di’.”
Dianne went on to tell him about the vinyl records she sees at these sales, promising to “go through them” and tell Chris “what’s what”, but his retort was sceptical, suggesting she might “lose” her patience in the process.
After their stint on Strictly concluded, Dianne took part in the Strictly tour and Chris embarked on his stand-up journey with Yonks!. But earlier this year, they became contenders for another accolade thanks to their dance moves.
The pair have been put forward for a BAFTA P&O Cruises Memorable Moment award, which is settled by public vote, recognising television scenes that left a lasting impression.
Sharing the exciting update on Instagram, Dianne expressed: “I am so proud of us @chrismccauslandcomedy we are nominated for a BAFTA for our beautiful waltz to you will never walk alone.”
She encouraged fans to support them, saying: “It’s the only BAFTA award that the winner is decided by you guys. So if you enjoyed this moment as much as we did go ahead and give us a vote the voting opens at 8am today and finished April 25th I’ll leave the link in my bio.”
