Quick overview:
It came amid the latest installment of her reality show, Stacey & Joe, with her husband Joe Swash
Stacey Solomon joked that it’s ‘sad’ she was looking forward to watching the latest installment of her reality show with her family having experienced everything for herself at the time.
Fans will be aware that the Loose Women star and her husband Joe Swash opened up their home to the cameras for the very first time last year for their own BBC One programme, Stacey & Joe.
The show follows them as well as their children in what has been described as a “refreshing, honest take on their modern blended family”.
The first episode of six aired at the start of the month, which kicked off as Joe served Stacey breakfast in bed as they celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
It was then episode three that aired on Tuesday night (April 15), marking the half-way point of the series. During the latest glimpse into life and Pickle Corrage, Stacey was preparing her garden for a Halloween event.
Her father, David, was helping her put up decorations outside when the pair got into a discussion over Stacey’s childhood. After Stacey announced that her dad hates Halloween, she added: “We didn’t celebrate Halloween growing up” before David interjected and said they used to go “around the houses”.
The camera then cut to an interview with just Stacey where she recalled: “So strict, they wouldn’t let us near anyone! We had to do all our homework, I mean I don’t think I had a phone for most of my teenage life…”
Elsewhere in the episode, Joe was seen breaking down in tears as he opened up about being ‘misunderstood’ as a youngster before getting a diagnosis that explained his behaviour later in life.
Joe opened up about having ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. The I’m A Celebrity and Dancing on Ice winner later headed to a psychiatrist in a bid to “try and get a grip” on his ADHD as he admitted to feeling like the control he had was “slipping away” due to his busy schedule at the time.
Ahead of the episode, Stacey posted a video to her Instagram Story as she admitted to settling down to watch the episode for herself alongside Joe and her two eldest sons, Zachary and Leighton.
She said in the clip to her six million followers: “Happy Tuesday! It’s been one of those days where I don’t know if I’m coming or going. I don’t know what has happened today. It feels like everything and nothing.
“Rex and Rose are down and Belle is the last one standing. Then me, Joe and the big boys are going to watch episode three of our show tonight which I’m really excited about. I know that probably sounds so sad that we watch it back but it’s like a home video.
“And oh my gosh, your messages have been so lovely since it’s been on… So I want to say thank you, that’s so kind and I’m just so glad it’s making you smile…”
Meanwhile, Stacey also got emotional when she was reminded of a moment from the previous episode, with the cameras capturing the time last year when she headed to get a suit for Zachary ahead of their appearance together at the National Television Awards.
In a confessional moment, the teenager was asked about being referred to as ‘Stacey Solomon’s son’, and he wasn’t at all phased. He told the cameras: “I’m not bothered by it. I’m Stacey Solomon’s son,. do you know what I mean? There’s no problem with that.”
As the clip was shared on BBC iPlayer’s Instagram account, Stacey reshared it to her Instagram Story and said: “Watching this back for the first time melted my heart [face holding back tears emoji]. And every time I watch it I get so emotional [crying face and heart emojis]. My Zach [crying and holding back tears emojis].”
Among those commenting on the pain post was documentary maker Stacey Dooley who gushed: “What a lovely lad,” before adding a red heart emoji. Stacey’s dad also commented: “So proud of what’s beautiful young man Zach has become and love being part of his journey such a Gorgeous soul love you so much.”
