Manchester United are facing up to the biggest game of their season on Thursday evening when they host French side Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

With the tie finely poised at 2-2 after the first leg at the Groupama Stadium, it is all to play for at Old Trafford with a place in the semi-finals awaiting the victors.

But all the pre-match build-up is set to surround the huge decision facing United head coach Ruben Amorim in goal and whether Andre Onana returns to the side.

The Cameroon international was the centre of attention before, during and after the first leg draw, with his pre-match comments suggesting United were ‘way better’ than their opponents initiating a public war of words with Lyon midfielder, and former United star, Nemanja Matic.

Onana was then culpable for both goals in Lyon and United took the decision to leave him out of the squad to travel to Newcastle on Sunday.

Amorim has told Onana to disconnect and rest. Altay Bayindir started in United’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday and did not exactly impress, but Amorim must now decide if he feels Onana is ready to return to the side or whether Bayindir or even third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton should start in goal instead.
