Here’s what you need to know:
The incredible six-bed bungalow boasts a 40ft indoor heated swimming pool and a gym across 1.4 acres
It was a remarkable win by any means. But, when mum-of-three Rachael Reid, won a luxurious home she won in an Omaze prize draw, she didn’t think she would put it up for sale.
The 54-year-old became the owner of the remarkable six-bedroom bungalow near Farnham, Surrey, last July after entering the competition with a mere £10. The property features a 40ft indoor heated swimming pool and a gym, all set across 1.4 acres.
After deciding to sell, Rachael placed the property on the market through Rightmove, with Savills handling the sale, initially asking for £2,950,000 in December.
However, as reported by the Mirror, the price was recently reduced by £200,000 on Tuesday, March 25. It is now advertised at £2,750,000. This price drop would still represent a significant profit for Rachael and her husband Darren, who have been married for 30 years and lived in the house for several months before choosing to sell it.
Explaining her decision to part with the house, the Inverness-based mum said: “I still can’t believe it really happened to us – winning a multi-million-pound house in Surrey has changed our lives forever. We’ve really enjoyed spending time at the house – it’s been magical and the whole family has loved it. All the locals have been lovely and welcoming – it’s a fantastic area.”
“The money I also got as part of my big win means if we wanted to, we could stay here for years and never have to worry about any costs – but we love where we live now, so we’ve decided to sell up and cash in – so we can buy an amazing house a bit closer to all our family and friends in Scotland.
“The money from the sale will change everything for the entire family – it’s just incredible – we’re all so excited for the future – we might even build our very own Omazing house! Entering Omaze was the best decision I ever made – I wish anyone who enters the best of luck, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone!”.
Describing the property on Rightmove, estate agents Savills said: “This immaculate six-bedroom property has been developed to a very high standard to create a contemporary country home with stylish interiors throughout.” The updated bungalow comes complete with a detached pool house equipped with a shower, gym, sauna, and changing room. A substantial gravel driveway with a double carport at the front leads to solid wood electric gates.
The property boasts a modern architectural style, featuring a spacious entrance hall that opens into a drawing room with a vaulted ceiling offering garden views, and includes a standout Purbeck stone chimney fireplace. Oak flooring sets the scene in the kitchen and dining area, featuring a central island complete with a breakfast bar. Additionally, the property boasts a sizeable living room, a dedicated study, and a lavish master bedroom that opens up to the patio through French doors, complemented by a walk-in wardrobe and a spectacular en suite bathroom.
Not just content with indoor splendour, the house also showcases an outdoor kitchen adorned with concrete worktops, built-in storage solutions, and a captivating open fireplace. The expanse of 1.4 acres includes artistically designed gardens and a serene wooded section. Labelled as a “sought-after village” by Savills, this bucolic abode is conveniently situated four miles from Farnham and a short 8.9 miles from the bustling town of Guildford, offering ideal conditions for those commuting.
Upon presenting this listing, a spokesperson for Omaze said: “Whatever their circumstances, all Omaze winners have several fantastic life changing options available to them. Omaze is immensely proud to have created 35 millionaires whilst also raising more than £81 million for good causes in the UK since it launched here.” Prior to publication of this story, an attempt was made to contact Savills estate agents regarding the price change, but they opted not to respond, Leicestershire Live reports.
