Man Utd lost to Newcastle on Sunday and Ruben Amorim and his players made a kind gesture at Carrington on Monday.
Ruben Amorim and Manchester United’s players met children in the pre-academy squad on Monday.
The Under-7s at United were given the opportunity to meet the first-team at Carrington, and the young children recieved the chance to meet and take photos with their football idols.
Amorim was pictured greeting the youngsters and Alejandro Garnacho also played a prominent role in the meet and greet. The majority of the first-team squad attended the event at Carrington, including Andre Onana, who was dropped to face Newcastle at St. James’ Park last weekend.
Onana is unsure if he will be recalled to the starting team to face Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final second leg on Thursday night, but a recall would represent a chance at redemption.
Altay Bayindir was unconvincing during his audition against Newcastle. His distribution was wayward throughout and he made a sloppy mistake which led to Bruno Guimaraes’ goal.
Newcastle did the league double over United for the first time since 1930/31 by winning 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, condemning United to a 14th defeat of the Premier League season.
United supporters have essentially written off the league campaign. Lifting the Europa League in Bilbao at the end of May is the only way to salvage something from a nightmare season.
Lyon snatched a 2-2 draw in the final seconds of added time at the Groupama Stadium last week, with Onana deflecting a save into the path of Rayan Cherki, who equalised.
United are set to record their lowest-ever points total in the Premier League this term.
