Patrick Sawicki’s mum described the 18-year-old as an “amazing friend to a lot of people”
A “remarkable” teenager died in a motorbike crash after he failed to negotiate a bend on his motorbike and collided with a lamppost, an inquest heard.
Patrick Sawicki had been riding back to his home on Balderstone Road, in Preston before the fatal crash took place last year on December 8, LancsLive reports.
The 18-year-old mechanic, known as Pat, was driving around a bend in Navigation Way before he lost control and was thrown from his bike, the inquest heard.
Held at Preston’s Coroner’s Court in Lancashire on Monday (April 14), the inquest heard that Pat had crashed into a lamppost and had died from multiple tragic injuries.
Hearing the evidence, Area Coroner Chris Long returned the conclusion of road traffic collision for the teenager’s death.
Area Coroner Chris Long said: “Patrick Diderot Pascal Sawicki died on 8 December 2024 at Navigation Way, Preston in Lancashire.
“Mr Sawicki failed to negotiate a bend in the road whilst riding his motorcycle, before falling from the motorcycle. As a result, he received traumatic injuries from which he did not recover.”
After Pat’s death his mum Helena Brian described her son as “an amazing kid and an amazing friend to a lot of people”.
Since her son’s death Helena Brian has set up a GoFundMe page in memory of Pat.
On the page she wrote: “ No one plans for that kind of eventuality, no one thinks “I better start the funeral plan for my son”. No one thinks so close to Christmas to save for something like that.”
Penwortham Priory Academy, also paid tribute to their former student describing Pat as a “remarkable young man”.
Principal of the Academy, Matt Eastham, said: “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Patrick Brian, a former pupil of our school. Patrick tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, 8 December near Preston docks on Navigation Way.
“Patrick, at just 18 years old, was a remarkable young man who lived life to the fullest. His family remembers him as a “true force of nature” who touched the hearts of everyone he met with his kindness and loyalty. Here at school, we have very fond memories of Patrick as a quiet, hardworking, kind and gentle soul, with a great sense of humour.
“Patrick’s passion for motorsports, cars, and mechanics was well-known, and he died doing what he loved most.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Patrick’s family and friends during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
