Normally £149.99, this portable power station is now £99.99 at Amazon.
The UK weather might have taken a slight turn for the worse this Bank Holiday weekend, but temperatures are certainly heading in the right direction with summer just around the corner. That means we’re all more likely to be spending time in the garden, soaking up the sun and socialising with mates over a tasty barbecue.
Something that can be a proper hindrance to enjoying your time out in the garden is keeping all of your devices charged. Whether it’s powering LED lights, portable speakers or just topping up your phone, unless you’ve got an ungainly extension cord to hand it can be frustrating when your electronic devices run out of juice away from a plug socket.
Amazon currently has an offer on a certain gadget that can help in this scenario with the SinKeu Portable Power Station knocked down from £149.99 to £99.96. That’s a 33% discount that’s only available for a limited time.
The portable power station contains a large 27,000mAh battery inside, capable of charging an iPhone 16 five times over. With a lightweight design and a carry handle, Amazon customers have said that it’s great for use out in the garden.
Part of that reason is that it has several different output ports depending on your device. Three USB ports, one of them USB C, lets you charge things like mobile phones, speakers and LED lights that you might have decorating the garden.
However, there’s also a 3-pin plug socket on the side which will let you charge something larger like a laptop. If you’re able to work from home, this could let you take your work outside to make the most of summer this year.
The battery pack has a few other neat features packed in, like a digital screen that shows exactly how much power is going in and out at any one time, plus exactly how much charge is left in the device. Oh the other side, a bright LED torch can emit a surprising amount of light, proving handy if you ever take the device away camping.
Once drained, the portable power station can take between four and five hours to charge back up to full. Stick it on charge overnight and it will be ready to go again come morning.
Amazon customers have rated this gadget with 4-star ratings overall, with one customer saying: “It’s great for using in the garden. Want to take a table lamp outside, a projector or small TV? Not a problem with this powerbank.”
Another reviewer writes: “I was in the garden and have one of those wee Bose speakers. It ran out so plugged it in. I used it for five hours and still had 3/4 battery left and this was while charging and using the speaker.” A third adds: “Was in the garden yesterday with our kitchen radio plugged in 3 pin socket for 2 hours and the battery did not even loose 1 square from the level meter.”
Not all customers loved the gadget though, with some have issues with the total power output of the device. “It seems to work fine with small rechargeable devices like phones, pads, torches etc., but the AC outlet seems useless. I have a small pair of travel hair straighteners rated at just 22w and the power station itself supposedly has an output rated at 200w. However, it won’t work with the straighteners rated at only 22w.”
Another customer added: “What I’m not impressed with is the output levels on the USB ports; a type C cable port isn’t delivering fast charging because the fast charge symbol does not on my device when I use it – the type c port outputs around 10 watts.”
If output wattage is a concern, you could opt for a slightly more compact power bank that’s capable of higher power output. The CUKTECH 20 power bank holds slightly less charge at 25,000mAh, but I personally know it’s capable outputting as much as 35w as it’s a power bank I use myself all the time. It doesn’t have a 3-pin outlet, but it’s available for £94.99 at Amazon with a free voucher at checkout.
Alternatively, there’s this more heavy duty model from Amazon. It features much more capacity with 666wWh, plus four fully-sized plug sockets for keeping anything from tools to kitchen appliances powered away from the wall. It’s currently got £30 knocked off for Prime members at Amazon.
