With the temperatures finally crawling back up to double figures, retreating back into the garden is finally becoming a possibility in the evenings here in the UK. You know what that means – we’re approaching barbecue season, and Debenhams has just reduced an ideal outdoor cooking gadget that shoppers say can elevate your next garden party ‘to the next level’.

This two-layered pizza oven allows you to not only cook a traditionally-fired pizza on the bottom, but also toast off kebabs, burgers, and other tasty grub up top. It normally sells for £189.95, but Debenhams has cut the price in half to £94.95 for a limited time.

With a tastefully designed black metal casing, this pizza oven resembles something halfway between a chimenea and a traditional barbecue. It’s fuelled at the bottom with either wood or charcoal (the choice is yours) to fire the food stored in the top section of the oven.

Both compartments have metal doors to seal in the heat, with the top completely covered to protect the contents from the elements. We all know the British weather can be unpredictable, but this pizza oven is prepared for the worst.

In the package you’ll find both a grill and pizza stone, plus a wedge to help place your pizzas in and out of the oven without misshaping them. It has a 60cm long handle to prevent you from burning yourself while cooking.

Despite being constructed of metal, the device is lightweight enough to be manoeuvred around the garden with ease. Two handles on the left and right allow for easy carrying, letting you create the perfect hosting setup.

At this price point, it looks to be a great alternative to much more expensive options like the Ooni. The cheapest Ooni model starts at £299 with no room for additional barbecue items.

Reviews of Costway pizza oven average 4.8 stars on the maker’s official site. One positive review reads: “A great little pizza oven! We had a little pizza party and it was great. Easy to put together, great value compared with others.”

Another added: “Love the folding legs! Makes it easy to store and set up for some backyard pizza action.” A third says: “Took my pizza game to the next level! Heats up fast and cooks evenly.”

There are some constructive criticisms from shoppers though, with one lamenting that it doesn’t come with a recipe booklet: “It needs to come with either a little recipe booklet and definitely instructions on how to actually set the oven. Which is the best fuel for heat, speed of use and flavour, etc.”

Another customer suggested that an improved version of this pizza oven would include a fire tray to make cleaning it out a little easier. They said that they “used a picnic barbecue first time and kept the tray” to get around this issue.

Amazon sells another pizza oven that’s also on sale right now. The VonHaus model is currently 14% off, knocking the price from £144.99 to £124.99.
