Reuben Owen, the star of Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm and his own show Life in the Dales, has opened up on growing up on a farm

Reuben Owen has shared insights into his upbringing on Our Yorkshire Farm.

The young farmer, now 21 and with his own show Life in the Dales, made an appearance on the Sunday edition of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.

Launched in 2018, Our Yorkshire Farm chronicled the highs and lows experienced by the Owen family as they managed their remote sheep farm in Yorkshire.

The series followed parents Clive and Amanda Owen and their nine children until its conclusion in 2022, which coincided with Amanda and Clive’s separation.

Despite this, Amanda continues to be featured on television, appearing in programmes like Amanda Owen’s Farming Lives and Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, also making appearances on Reuben’s Life in the Dales.

Talking to host Alan, 75, Reuben reflected on his childhood spent on the farm. “It had its times where it was hard but overall an amazing place to live and grow up, I’ve had some great times there”, reports Leeds Live.

However, the young farmer jokingly added: “I think the worst thing about it is the weather!”

Reuben continued: “Other than that, it was a brilliant place to grow up!”

Discussing the unique aspect of growing up surrounded by film crews and gaining television exposure from an early age, Reuben revealed: “I’ve kind of known it since I was very young and it’s brought all sorts of opportunities.

“So I’ve always kind of enjoyed doing it! It seems whenever anything goes wrong, a camera turns up!”

It comes as fans of Our Yorkshire Farm are abuzz with anticipation as the continuation of Reuben’s standalone series, Life in the Dales, has been confirmed.

While an official release date remains under wraps, behind-the-scenes images showcasing Reuben and his co-workers have been revealed.

Reuben was spotted filming in Whitby, with a local fish and chip shop posting pictures of him, his girlfriend Jessica, and his colleagues on its Facebook page.

The post, which was also circulated on a fan page dedicated to the Owen family, captured Reuben and his friends smiling for the camera during a well-deserved break.

In addition to Reuben’s solo venture, another show is on the horizon. Channel 4’s Our Farm Next Door, starring Amanda, Clive, and their children, is gearing up for its second series.
