Reuben Owen has opened up about life on the farm and what it was like growing up in the limelight

Reuben Owen, the young star of Our Yorkshire Farm, received a stern warning from his mother, Amanda, after a significant blunder on their family farm.

The budding farmer recently appeared on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, where he discussed his experiences growing up in the public eye on Our Yorkshire Farm and now leading his own show.

In a segment of the programme, Alan Titchmarsh played a clip from Reuben’s Channel 5 series, Life in the Dales, which showed Reuben facing a challenging moment.

The incident involved Reuben getting his new 26-ton loading shovel stuck in the mud, prompting him to quip to the camera: “Do you ever just feel like you shouldn’t have got out of bed this morning.”

Upon her arrival at the scene, Amanda asked, “I’m Sorry. I just came to see how it was going,” reports Leeds Live.

To which Reuben responded with a touch of irony, “It’s going well,” before adding, “It’s going really well.”

Amanda, mother to nine, didn’t hold back as she cautioned her son, saying: “I tell you what, your dad is going to kill you,” Reuben, aware of the potential fallout, suggested: “As far as I am aware, let’s not mention this until we get it out.”

The clip concluded with Alan chuckling and probing about the parental approach to Reuben’s new venture, noting that they always seem ready to offer advice, solicited or not. Reuben light-heartedly remarked: “Well, that was one of those times, one of our less profitable jobs.

“My mother wanted a drive repairing and down to the farm because it’s full of potholes from all the big machinery, and then one of our lads decided to take the loading shovel down there, and got stuck.

“So it was a bit of a disaster, and then everyone turned up, and the cameras were switched on. So it was one of them things.”

In the same interview, Reuben shared his experiences growing up at Ravenseat, highlighting the “worst” aspect of it.

“It had its times where it was hard, but overall, an amazing place to live and grow up. I’ve had some great times there,” he expressed.

“I think the worst thing about it is the weather! Other than that, it was a brilliant place to grow up!”
