Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are officially live as of today, with most of the major UK retailers opening the floodgates
Nintendo fans can rejoice as the brand new Switch 2 console is now officially available to pre-order pretty much everywhere. While some UK retailers jumped the gun and set their pre-order pages live last week, today is the official day that Nintendo said the console would be available to buy and most major retailers have now opened the flood gates for orders to take place.
The latest Nintendo Switch console looks to be a promising jump up from the last generation of hardware, featuring a much larger and brighter screen along with vastly improved internal components. It’s capable of running games at much higher resolutions and frame rates, with the portable screen now running at up to 120Hz.
Launching on June 5, 2025, it’s less than two months until gamers will have their hands on the new hardware. It will cost £395.99 for the console alone, or £429.99 if you bundle it in with the new Mario Kart World game.
Here are all the retailers you can currently place a pre-order for a Nintendo Switch 2:
Above are all the major retailers that are offering the Nintendo Switch 2 right now, although it’s likely that a lot of them will have sold out already. New stock is likely to roll around as we approach the June 5 release date, so it’s worth signing up to retailer newsletters and alerts to ensure you get notified when you can place an order.
At the time of writing, EE and Argos are the only places with stock available. Additional retailers are expected to see stock roll in throughout the day.
Of all the retailers on the list, ShopTo is the cheapest. It’s knocked 10p off the MSRP in an attempt to undercut other sites – every little helps, right?
If you’re going to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2, I highly recommend going for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World. Not only will it mean that you’re getting a brand new exclusive game to play on your console when it first arrives, but it also means you’re saving money if you intend to pick up Mario Kart World later on.
The new Mario Kart game retails for £67 if you buy the digital edition, which is almost twice the price compared to the £34 you’ll pay for the game in the Switch 2 bundle. What’s more, Nintendo rarely budges on price for its major first party games, meaning Mario Kart World isn’t going to go on sale for cheaper any time soon – you might as well pick it up now alongside the console.
As for accessories, places like ShopTo and Very already have additional JoyCons, the Pro Controller and all the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games ready to pre-order alongside the console. Be sure to scroll down on their Switch 2 pages to find the accessories you’re looking for.
If you are considering picking up a Nintendo Switch 2, it’s worth doing so quickly. The first wave of pre-orders at Argos and Very saw the console sell out almost instantly, so it’s likely to be the same with regards to the other retailers too.
Nintendo is also selling the console directly, but you’ll need to prove that you’re a loyal fan to order from them. Logging in with your Nintendo account, the company will judge how much you’ve played the original Nintendo Switch to see if you’re a real person trying to purchase the console, avoiding scalpers.
You’ll also need to answer a few questions about key Nintendo franchises to prove you know your Koopas from your Goombas. If you fancy taking the trial, you can do so at Nintendo’s official website.
