Officers have issued a major update in the search for a missing 69-year-old man from Tameside.

Martin was reported missing after disappearing from Vicarage Crescent, in Ashton-under-Lyne, at 9am on Saturday (April 5).

Greater Manchester Police says Martin has since been seen in Fitton Hill, Oldham, near to Ashton Road. Martin was seen in the area at around 6pm on Monday evening.

A new image showing Martin has also been shared by GMP this morning (Tuesday). GMP says Martin has dementia.

He was previously seen wearing hiking boots, a black coat and a black woolly hat. He also carried a black/grey backpack on Saturday morning.

Three images of Martin have now been shared by GMP in three separate appeals, as officers grow concerned for his welfare.

Anyone who sees Martin or has information on his whereabouts is urged to come forward as soon as possible.

In a post on Facebook this morning, a spokesperson for GMP Oldham said: “Can you help officers find Martin?

“He was recently sighted on Fitton Hill, Oldham near Ashton Road at around 6pm on April 7, 2025.

“Any info? Call us on 0161 856 9325 or 101 so we can make sure he is safe.”
