Here’s what you need to know:
Today looks like the end of the ‘wall-to-wall’ sunshine we’ve been enjoying
Greater Manchester is set for more glorious sunshine today – but it looks to be the last glimpse we’ll get for a while.
The region – and much of the UK – has been enjoying virtually uninterrupted sunny weather for around a fortnight, with beer gardens and cafes filling up and office workers sunbathing in Piccadilly Gardens.
Temperatures peaked on Friday (April 11) at 20C. That’s set to continue for a little longer, with many waking up today (Saturday) to yet another sunny start.
But the skies will start to cloud over at 1pm, with temperatures peaking at around 3pm at 19C. As the afternoon goes on, those clouds will become denser, with rain due to begin at around 6pm and last until at least 9pm.
Temperatures will rapidly drop – from 18C at 5pm to 12C by 10pm. It will get cooler fairly rapidly thanks to the rainfall and won’t warm up again to those balmy mid-teens temperatures we’ve been used to.

Temperatures will drop to a low of 8C over night (feeling like 6) and reach a peak of just 12C by Sunday afternoon, amid unsettled conditions: a few hours of sun and cloud early on, then some patchy rainfall mid morning.
Things do improve slightly by the afternoon, with the sun making another appearance between 4 and 7pm, ahead of another fairly chilly night, with temperatures as low as 6C.
With another week of the Easter holidays still to go, it’s not all doom and gloom for next week thankfully. The Met Office predicts a more varied week of sun and cloud with the occasional shower, with peak temperatures hovering around 15C – what we might usually expect for mid April.
The forecast in full
Saturday April 12: “A sunny morning with some wispy high cloud arriving. Cloudier skies developing through the afternoon with any sunshine turning hazy.
“Chance of showers later. A warm day for mid-April. Maximum temperature 20 °C.”
This evening: “Showers becoming more likely for a time this evening, perhaps locally heavy. Some places may remain dry though and turning generally drier later in the night. Staying frost-free for all. Minimum temperature 6 °C.”
Sunday April 13: “Often fairly cloudy but occasional sunny intervals are likely. A mainly dry day with just a few isolated light showers. Feeling much cooler compared to lately with brisk westerly winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.”
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday: “Cooler than of late but temperatures around or just above average still. Sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy at times, throughout the period.”
