Temperatures are set to rise to 22C next week
The UK is set to see temperatures of up to 22C next week, making temperatures up to 10C hotter than the average for this time of year.
From Monday, April 28, temperatures are set to reach highs of 20C to 22C across most of the UK according to the Met Office’s weather forecast.
On Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 and May 1, temperatures could reach 23C in the South of the country around London.
The Met Office has shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the temperatures next week could be as much as 10C higher than the average for this same time of year.
The UK weather agency wrote: “Maximum temperatures inland could be as much as 10 degrees Celsius above the late April average by Tuesday.”
Alongside the post on X, there is a map showing how significant the temperature difference between the forecast next week and the average for the month.
The darker the colour, the higher the temperature difference.
Although there are areas of dark red, which signified more than 9C higher than the month’s average, most of the UK is higher than average to varying degrees.
As well as the above post, they also shared the following on X: “It’s warming up over the weekend.
“By early next week, maximum temperatures in the high teens or low 20s Celsius will be widespread. If you like cooler conditions, head to coastal areas where it wont be quite as warm.”
The UK weather agency has also warned of high UV levels and encouraged Brits to apply sun cream if they are venturing out in the sun.
Earlier this week, the Met Office wrote on X: “If you’re enjoying the sunny spells this week, take note that the UV levels are as high as they are in mid-August.”
In the Met Office’s UK-wide long-range forecast, from the period between April 28 and May 7, the temperatures are set to be “widely fine with sunny spells”, with a “small chance” that “very warm weather” could be seen in the UK over the following days.
As well as the UV warnings, there are some amber “high” pollen alerts in place across parts of the UK, particularly in the southern parts.
