Man United forward Marcus Rashford faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford when his loan spell at Aston Villa ends.

Marcus Rashford is reportedly set for ‘showdown talks’ with Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim if he returns to the Reds this summer.

The 27-year-old was sidelined under the former Sporting Lisbon manager and omitted from nearly all United matchday squads from his last game on December 12 until his loan move in February. Since landing in Birmingham, Rashford has become a pivotal figure in Villa’s success under Unai Emery, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

His improved performances have propelled Villa into the Champions League quarter-finals, where they are 3-1 down to Paris Saint-Germain after the first leg. Additionally, Rashford was recently involved in the England squad under new Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel.

And our colleagues at The Daily Star claim that Rashford and Amorim will aim to clear the air ahead of United’s pre-season tour of the United States if the forward returns to Old Trafford. Villa have the option to buy Rashford in a £40million deal but it remains to be seen if they want to make the deal permanent.

If Villa reject the chance to keep Rashford, the forward will head back to the Reds with his future still in limbo. It is said that United are willing to sell the attacker, but if no one comes in for him before the end of July, he will be expected to be part of the summer tour.

Amorim has previously stated that Rashford was unable to adapt to the way he wanted to play and train.

“I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim said. “And sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different.

“I just wish the best to Rashford and to Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”
