Marcus Rashford appears to be settling into life in Birmingham with a permanent move to Aston Villa still on the table.

Although Rashford’s numbers at Villa aren’t necessarily eye-catching – three goals and five assists in 16 appearances – the 27-year-old seems to be enjoying his football a lot more under Unai Emery.

Villa have the option to make Rashford’s loan move a permanent one this summer for £40m, however his future still remains uncertain with a return to Old Trafford still on the cards. In spite of that, the England international’s weekend activity may hint at which way he’s looking at going.

The on-loan Villa forward was in attendance for the light heavyweight bout between Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron at the BP Pulse LIVE arena in Birmingham. The rematch saw Olympian Whittaker, who is from Darlaston in the West Midlands, take victory via a second-round stoppage.

The Villa player was snapped up alongside Whittaker and fellow British boxer Adam Azim. It seems like Rashford is embedding himself into Birmingham culture during his time at the claret and blue club. This could be the 27-year-old’s way of settling in before a permanent move.

Rumours regarding an official transfer move to Villa grew stronger after the Manchester United academy graduate decided to sell his £450k Lamborghini near Manchester. Although there may not be a direct correlation, it certainly added fuel to the fire.

Ruben Amorim’s squad are not in as good of a position as Villa at the moment. Emery’s side are fighting for a Champions League spot in the Premier League as well as having made it to the FA Cup semi-finals. United’s success this season lies in their chances of winning the Europa League.

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy warned Rashford against returning to United, saying: “Look, I might be being harsh on Amorim because he might have been dictated to by the hierarchy but the reality is when you walk into a squad of players the first job is to protect yourself and get some results.

“When you look at Man United’s front line, Rashford is better than what they’ve got.”
