Quick overview:
Man United will be looking to progress to the Europa League semi-finals when they lock horns with Lyon at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee were absent from Manchester United training at Carrington this morning.
The Reds hosted an open training session in wet and windy conditions ahead of their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Lyon at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
De Ligt has missed the last three matches through injury and Zirkzee was forced off in Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United with a suspected hamstring injury. Head coach Ruben Amorim could issue an update on the pair when he speaks to the media this lunchtime.
Ayden Heaven was also absent from the session after suffering a small setback in his recovery from a recent injury. He was named on the bench against Newcastle at the weekend.
Elsewhere, Jonny Evans was back in training. He has missed the last 22 matches through injury, last featuring in the matchday squad when United lost 2-0 to Wolves at Molineux on Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, youngsters Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Jack Moorhouse and Gabriele Biancheri were involved in the session. Kamason, Kukonki and Moorhouse were all named on the bench for last week’s first leg against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium.
The quarter-final tie is finely poised at 2-2 following last week’s first leg in France, meaning everything is still to play for.
